1. Hardware and software.
Hardware: The physical components of a computer that you can touch and feel comprise the hardware of a computer. Hardware is so-termed because it is "hard" or rigid with respect to changes. Examples of hardware are - Central Processing Unit(CPU), keyboard, mouse, RAM, monitor, printer, motherboard, etc.
Software: It is a collection of programs and procedures that instructs a computer about how to perform the different types of tasks. The majority of software is written in high-level programming languages. The software enhances the capability of the hardware and directs the computer to perform operations, like input, processing, and output. The software can be classified into two types:
- Application software- Application software uses the computer system to perform special functions beyond the basic operation of the computer itself.
- System software- System software manages hardware behavior, to provide basic functionalities that are required by users, or for other software to run properly, if at all. System software is also designed for providing a platform for running application software
2. Scanner and different types of scanners.
An image scanner—often abbreviated to just a scanner- is an input device that scans text, images, and objects optically. The scanned data is then converted into a digital image and displayed on the computer screen. Modern scanners are considered the successors of early telephotography and fax input devices. The first image scanner developed for use with a computer was a drum scanner.
Types of Scanner:-
-
Drum scanner
- Flatbed Scanner: It looks like a miniature printer with a flip-up cover protecting the glass window. This type of scanner is sometimes called a reflective scanner. The flatbed scanners are used in homes, schools, and medium-sized offices.

3. Plotters and types of plotters
A plotter is a vector graphic printing device that interprets commands from a computer to draw lines on paper with one or more automated pens. Plotters draw lines on paper using a pen. Plotters are basically used for graphical applications, like Computer Aided Designing (CAD) for printing maps and drawings.
There are two types of plotters:
-
Flatbed Plotter: A Flatbed plotter is also known as a Table
Plotter. It plots on a paper that is spread and fixed over a rectangular
flatbed table. Hewlett Packard and Tektronix produced small, desktop-sized flatbed plotters in the late
1960s and 1970s. It is very slow in drawing or printing graphs.
Drum Plotter
- Drum Plotter: A Drum plotter is also known as a Roller Plotter. It consists of a drum on which a paper is placed. They are more loud and compact in contrast to the flatbed plotters.
4. What are Web Browsers?
A web browser is software that is used to view websites. It is application software used for accessing the World Wide Web. It is an interface between a user and the World Wide Web. A web browser is not the same thing as a search engine, though the two are often confused. The user can navigate files, folders, and websites using hyperlinks. Multiple tabs and windows of the same browser can be opened. Most browsers use an internal cache of web page resources to improve loading times for subsequent visits to the same page. The features and facilities offered by a web browser include download, bookmarks, and password management. It also offers functions, like spell checking, search engine toolbars, advertisement filtering, HTML access keys, etc.
Some popular web browsers are:-
- Google Chrome
- Mozilla Firefox
- Apple Safari
- OPERA
- Brave
- Microsoft Edge
5. What is Touch typing? What are the benefits of Touch typing?
Touch typing is a method of typing without the use of the sense of sight, or simply by feeling the keyboard. This way, a user can type spontaneously by placing his or her hands on the keyboard and does not have to look at any of the keys. However, the sense of touch is a little involved since this typing method utilizes muscle memory through rigorous training.
By Touch-typing the speed and accuracy of the user get enhanced. Learning touch typing allows you to focus on one thing instead of two and thus increases productivity. Another benefit of touch typing is finishing the work within a given time span.
