SOLUTIONS FOR CLASS 9 CHAPTER 17 ENVIRONMENT PROTECTION AND CONSERVATION

1. Explain the composition of biotic and abiotic factors in the environment.
Biotic composition - These components consist of all the living organisms within an ecosystem, for example, plants, animals, birds, insects, etc.
Abiotic composition - These components comprise all the non-living things in an ecosystem, for example, water, air, sunlight, and minerals.

2. What is an ecosystem? Its 3 primary components are?
An ecosystem is a community of living and non-living components which are interdependent on each other.
Its 3 primary components-
  • Autotrophs - They are the producers of energy. (Plants)
  • Heterotrophs - They are the consumers of energy. (Animals and Humans)
  • Non-living It is soil, sediments, leaf litter, and other organic matter found on the ground or at the bottom of an aquatic system.

3. Some of the factors that cause an imbalance in an ecosystem?
  • Overexploitation of Natural Resources
