1. What is communication?
Ans.
Communication is the process of transferring on sharing of information
between two or more people. It is a two way process of reaching mutual
understanding. People communicate with others in different ways vocally
(using voice), written (using printed on digital media such as books,
magazines, websites on emails), visually (using logos, map, charts) on
non-verbally (using body language, gesture etc.)
2. What are the features of effective communication ?
Ans.
- Communication is a meaningful process that involves a sender and a receiver. While communicating, both should share a common language.
- A message should be clear. It should convey the right meaning to others.
- Listening to others is a very important aspect of effective communication.
- Communication is a process in which there is an input and an output. A meaningful communication results in a response from the receiver.
3. List the barriers to effective communication. Explain any two.
Ans.
Barriers to effective communication:-
(i)-Environmental Barriers → example→defective instrument, poor lighting,
unhygienic room conditions etc..
(ii)-Situational Barriers → example → noise, distance, noise from
generators or other machinery.
(iii)-Individual Barriers → example → age, gender, Linguistic ability,
Inattention , Emotional
state.
Explain any two:-
(i)-Environmental Barriers → These are the physical conditions that
affect the communication process. For example, defective instruments, poor
lighting etc.
(ii)-Situational barriers - The factors like distance, noise
and distractions causes Unnecessary disruption in the communication
process. For example,
loud music and noise from generators and other machinery
4. Sidhant is preparing for his first campaign speech. Advise him about
the possible barriers to effective communication and how can he avoid
them ?
Ans.
Barriers to effective communication :-
(i)-Use of unfamiliar words.
(ii)- Lack of attention or irrelevant for the receiver.
(iii)-Different view points and perception of people.
(iv)-Language differences.
Avoiding these Barriers:-
(i)-Use of appropriate mode to communicate.
(ii)-Use simple and short sentences.
(iii)-Speak by keeping in mind the age group of audience.
(v)-Speak clearly and use expressions.
